huh? how come i donnoe?

15 Jan

I have this slight problem with my right ear since donnoe when, its categorize by sudden ringing and blocking of my ear out of the blues, especially so after i digg it with cotton sticks or whatever the chee cheong you call it

I figure it was nothing much and ignored it but lately after having blocked nose and itchy throat, my ears oso started to itch and the ringing got more persistent. I remembered last time i went guardian then found this ear cleaning solution but didnt bought it since it was kinda expensive and i didnt feel the need for it but now im having 2nd thots and since im in the middle of a writing a report, this was an excellent excuse to erm.. arhem.. take a break and go surf the net for additional information.

didnt really find anything related to the cleansing solution but i did find several articles regarding earwax and some ear problems including deafness and such, I lazy to explain so i just quote:

Should You Clean Your Ears?

Wax is not formed in the deep part of the ear canal near the eardrum, but only in the outer part of the canal. So when a patient has wax blocked up against the eardrum, it is often because he has been probing his ear with such things as cotton-tipped applicators, bobby pins, or twisted napkin corners. These objects only push the wax in deeper. Also, the skin of the ear canal and the eardrum is very thin and fragile and is easily injured.

Earwax is healthy in normal amounts and serves to coat the skin of the ear canal where it acts as a temporary water repellent. The absence of earwax may result in dry, itchy ears.

Most of the time the ear canals are self-cleaning; that is, there is a slow and orderly migration of ear canal skin from the eardrum to the ear opening. Old earwax is constantly being transported from the ear canal to the ear opening where it usually dries, flakes, and falls out.

Under ideal circumstances, you should never have to clean your ear canals. However, we all know that this isn’t always so. If you want to clean your ears, you can wash the external ear with a cloth over a finger, but do not insert anything into the ear canal.

What Are the Symptoms of Wax Buildup?
  • partial hearing loss, may be progressive
  • tinnitus, noises in the ear
  • earache
  • fullness in the ear or a sensation the ear is plugged

Extracted from here (http://www.entnet.org)

and it seems that other opinions from different website also supports this claim. holy sheet! i didnt noe! and to think that i enjoy cleaning my ears so much from time to time, damn! i think the earwax really is go in pretty deep liao lor, everytime i reach in deep using the cotton stick, the wax will appear at the tip! oh noes!

oh well, i think i should just go back guardian and get the cleaning solution see whether it works or not.

I think all this ringing shit oso have to do with my clubbing days lar. constant exposure to extremely loud music… 😦

Hi, i dun wanna scare you, but ringing in the ears is also associated with cancer. Have you lost weight recently, or experience unexplainable bleeding of the nose? Or tiredness and increase of appetite?

If you have any of the symptoms above, I’m suggesting a talk with your doctor, followed by a blood count to check the white blood cells level. This is the cheapest form of check I can think of.

The best check would be a PET scan, but at $2k, it’s not advisable for something we dun know yet.

Sorry again, I dun want to scare you, but it’s just one of the symptoms. Better safe than sorry.

eh actually this ringing problem started like 4 – 5 years ago, just very rare and not problematic, i understand this symptoms that I’ve mentioned are not good at all but i highly doubt it has anything to do with cancer,

and to further reaffirm you, no, i do not have any other symptons similar to what you’ve mentioned.

I think at most go deaf only.

Anyways thanks for your concern. and donnid to apologise, if it happens it happens, you just have to accept it.
