WTS: PSP for SGD2600;$2600;two thousand six hundred dollars!

Normally I don’t have the habit of parroting boliao news from this particular website. But this one I really really really feel GAN outrageous like crazy mofo ding dong! hence i shall publicize!

Shop charges $2,600 for ‘modified’ PSP (click on link to see scan of receipt and shop address!)

A STOMPer says he was shocked when his niece was charged $2,600 for a PSP set, with the bulk of the price charged for a modification of the console his niece was not aware of.

Said the STOMPer:

“On July 12, my niece and her mother were walking around the electronics store in Lucky Plaza to look for electronic gaming console.

“They chose a decent looking shop, well furnished and displays of game consoles and games were neatly placed.”

The STOMPer said his niece and her mother agreed to pay about $300 for the console, including accessories.

He said the sales assistant later took the unopened PSP box away and when he came back with the ‘modified’ PSP and added miscellaneous charges.

The STOMPer said his niece was not informed that any modification was to be done and that the shop did not get her consent to do so.

He said:

“The sales assistant had taken the PSP away from the shop to a ‘technician’ he claimed had downloaded software known to be able to download games and a PSP version changer.

“He claimed that it is compulsory to install this license from SONY and a software to play downloaded games.

“He did the software update without my niece’s consent.”

The STOMPer said the costs were as follows:

PSP Set $290

MMC 8GB $98

Screen Protector $29

PSP 6 in 1 kit $69

Total: $486

Cost of modification: $2114

The STOMPer added:

“Initially the total price was $3400 and they made a mistake writing $3550 on the GST 7% column which goes to show a very obvious mathematical error.

“After some negotiation the sales assistant gave a discount to $2600.

“My niece was very shocked at the price because she bought her Playstation 3 at some $700, playstation 3 is a bigger console for use with the television.

“She wanted to cancel the order as she did not expect the price to be exorbitant but the sales assistant mentioned that once the software has been installed, workman cost and product cost has been incurred and they will have to pay $2000+ even if they do not want the console.

“Given no choice, she signed the credit card and paid $2600 in total.”

STOMP is contacting the shop for comment.

I can confirm the shop will either keep quiet or say it was a mistake.

Charged: Man with obscene films in monk’s condo

Yes, update on the kuku dude who suay suay kena caught for possessing prawns:

A FOURTH man charged yesterday appeared to have nothing to do with the financial affairs of Ren Ci Hospital.

Pang Leong Chuan, 27, was charged with having 138 obscene and uncertified films.

He used to be the former personal assistant of monk Ming Yi, and was caught with most of the illegal films in an upscale apartment where the monk sometimes stayed.

Ming Yi is one of five listed owners of the apartment in The Cornwall, a condominium off Holland Road. Checks showed that the other owners included the Foo Hai Ch’an Monastery, where Ming Yi was the abbot.

Monastery staff were said to live in the fourth-floor unit, valued at about $2 million. Pang is believed to have lived there too.

Commercial Affairs Department officers confiscated 95 films at the apartment on Feb18, and another 43 from Pang’s listed address in Tampines.

A resident said three men, including Ming Yi, lived there. Others said they had seen him returning at night in a car with two men.

Pang, a university student, was the monk’s personal executive for more than a year.

No one was at his Tampines flat when The Straits Times checked yesterday. He is believed to have lived with his mother, though he was seldom home.

He faces six charges – four for possessing obscene films and two for having films uncertified for screening – and may be fined and jailed if found guilty.

He has engaged a lawyer.

tsk tsk tsk. Regarding all this hoo-haa, I’ve longgggg longgg ago expected it, ever since people started paying attention to that monk’s dress sense and lifestyle, i already knew this dude was trouble.

My negative opinions of him were further reinforced when he rebuked those who criticized him with nosensensical logic; stating that a monk doesn’t have to live in mountains and chant in temples like those portrayed in movies.

Instantly I thought to myself after reading all his bullcrap: “Nabei, people now is not telling you to go chant in mountain, people now is questioning is it necessary for you to have this sort of lifestyle or not? I mean wear expensive watch lei, drive expensive cars lei, live big house lei, go nice cruise lei.”

AND let’s not forget the failed investments someone from HK repaid for him.

I mean, faced with such a scenario, you simply cannot ask me to NOT be suspicious of this dude and his way of handling money.
